Strategic Partenership for the Residential Sector

This year CBRE and Castelhana, a company specialising in premium homes investment and sales, set up a strategic partnership for the residential sector. This alliance is designed to respond to the challenges of the residential market, as well as get closer to our clients by providing an integrated service. CBRE will be responsible for property deals in the business sector while Castelhana will boost the residential sector by selling premium villas, apartments, houses and ventures in the business-to-consumer segment.

CBRE Opens New Capital Advisors Line of Business

CBRE has recently launched a Capital Advisors line of business in Portugal. Capital Advisors provide expertise in all real estate financial matters, including Corporate Finance, Investment Advisory and Loan Services. Igor Borrego will be heading this business area in response to the growing demand in the market for obtaining capital and debt for real estate transactions, as well as structuring and advising on NPL purchase and sale transactions and distressed assets in the Portuguese financial sector.


Swap & Share – An International Professional Experience

This year CBRE will be running another edition of its Swap & Share Program: an opportunity for its consultants to gain international professional experience. The idea is for two CBRE employees from different countries to swap positions for a week and share best practices. The Swap & Share Program is just one of the many international opportunities offered by CBRE to its employees.


CBRE Remodels Institution that Takes in Youngsters at Risk Together with the Just a Change Association

CBRE staff joined forces on 9 March to remodel the Adolfo Coelho Home, of the António Silva Leal Foundation, an institution that takes in, temporarily, young women who are at risk. The initiative, which involved 90 CBRE employees, was run in partnership with Just a Change, a not-profit association that refurbishes homes for people in need and has relied on our support since 2014. Another act of solidarity undertaken by CBRE is the annual Padel by Night tournament held at Clube VII in Lisbon, with all entry fees reverting to this organisation. The event brought together around 60 players including CBRE clients and staff who played on behalf of a better world. Last year CBRE raised sufficient funds to refurbish two houses and provide over 120 baby items to families in need.

Be Well Campaign Promotes Health and Well-Being

“Be Well Week – Eat Smart, Think Well, Be Active” was the campaign run by CBRE across the EMEA region from 9 to 14 October with the aim of promoting health and well-being amongst its staff. Yoga classes, surf classes, massages, hikes, healthy breakfasts and healthy workshop snacks were some of the activities held in Portugal from Monday through to Saturday, with the aim of leading a healthier lifestyle.


CBRE Climbs Portugal’s Highest Mountain

Last June a group of CBRE employees reached the highest point in Portugal. Ricardo Serrano, Ricardo Pena, José Hermozilha, John Rowlands, Sérgio Albano and Frederico Borges de Castro were able to climbed 2,351 metres to reach the top of Pico mountain in the Azores. This initiative shows that the CBRE spirit is not ready to settle. Being at the top does not suffice: we need to go even further and show that market leadership is not simply the result of team work but also of each individual effort.


Duarte Morais Santos To Head Hotels in Portugal

Duarte Morais Santos has been chosen by CBRE Hotels to head the new Lisbon hotel line of business. In his new role, he will be responsible for rendering advice on all service transactions in Portugal. This appointment will strengthen CBRE Hotels’ capabilities and broaden the scope of hotel sector client services. In recent years the Portuguese hotel market has witnessed a strong growth on the demand side, which has given rise to a positive impact on performance and increased the number of hotels.


Sunset Party Brings Together CBRE Clients and Staff

A Sunset Party brought together CBRE clients and staff at the office terrace in Lisbon. An end of the summer event that allowed everyone to enjoy an informal and relaxed evening. Over 100 people toasted the end of the season and back to work with a variety of cocktails and the finest sounds.


CBRE Conference Defines Real Estate Market Trends in 2018

The second edition of the “Real Estate Market Outlook”, organised by CBRE together with Expresso weekly newspaper, was held on 18 January at the Belém Cultural Centre in Lisbon. The main trends foreseen for Portugal in 2018 were presented. The starting points for the conference were the growth in the national economy, which should see GDP rise by 2.2% and which is based on increased investment and exports, and the forecast record 2,600 million

euros to be invested in commercial property in 2018. The growing interest in alternative products such as student housing and healthcare units, along with new investment opportunities resulting from the free rental market, were the keynote topics. On the other hand, the scarcity of supply in the office and logistics sectors, the high street retail expansion, the boosting of e-commerce, the healthy residential sector and the increasing diversification in the hotel sector comprised the other topics covered by what was yet another great moment for CBRE.
